SANDRA DEE'S 21 DAY CHALLENGE (BIRMINGHAM AL.)

This is the quote I think about when I look at 21's next participant:  "It's only impossible when you stop to think about it."  This young lady has big GOALS and big DREAMS.   I won't give away what she's working on...but when it comes to DEDICATION...she is definitely one of the most dedicated and focused young ladies that I know.  I'd like to introduce you to the QUIET STORM herself, SANDRA DEE.

  1. Talk about excited about beginning this journey! It’s day one and I am off to a “no holds barred” start…so much so that as I was utilizing the wonderful world of Facebook to connect with industry people and influences for my career, with my “excited” self… I requested too many. Yes, people… I am on Facebook lockdown… The blue button time out… I have been officially disliked and was segregated to the Social Media TSA line… I can’t request friends for two days… I feel like I am really being retrained… (sigh) So in the mean time, I had a productive meeting with Kerry "Too Smooth" Marshall. I've known Kerry for a little over three years...We attend the same church and have built a friendship as well as offered each other assistance through our talents for various business projects. Considering he was extremely exhausted after traveling back to Birmingham from Nashville before dawn THIS morning to do a segment on local television and have a meeting with me, speaks much about our alliance. With that being said –we both came to handle business and save the small talk. Discussion was on designing his website and creating a flow of information that would be easily available to his audience. I almost felt like an interior decorator or stylist implementing suggestions and receiving feedback in order to create a magnanimous work of art… So here I am in the “let’s get it cracking” pose, taking notes with my retractable pencil and note pad to my right and laptop on my legs, so gracious and humbled of this 1 st day of opportunity. Anticipating the outcome will be brilliant beyond belief. On to the next assignment of the Day: Process. ------------

  2. Day 2 …... Still amped up on my “Reinvention” Journey... So far -- THIS MORNING--I have scheduled a lunch meeting for next week with an impressive entrepreneur that is local to the area, He’s built a respectable reputation for the way he handles business and guess what? He’s still under the age of 30: Deontee Gordon... He was recently honored as a "Star in the Community" at the Birmingham Urban League Young Professionals Awards Gala... Talk about Impressive. So as I sip on my Cran-Grape juice, I think of how doors are opening and path is being paved ...things are lining up... because Opportunities are being presented in this unimaginable way...I am honored to gain fresh ideas and wisdom from someone of such caliber. I've known OF Deontee for a few years now, from social and networking circles...But never spoke to him in this regards...
But YOU all will learn more on what I’m talking about as the meeting day approaches...
Already, I am thinking about asking him to be one of my mentors!
Also, I found a gold mine of knowledge: A Template of A Business Plan for a Startup Business...I’ve printed it out (and have the electronic version) and all 28 pages are exactly what I’ve been looking for. I like to have the hard copy out so that I can write out my plan.I tell you, there is definitely no such thing as coincidences... Begin to do the work, commit your plan to God and he will lay it out for you, honey!
I mean EVERYTHING is in there:
How to develop an Executive Summary, Evaluate products and services that I’ll be offering, Create a marketing, operational, management and organizational plan. It also challenges me to develop my personal financial statement and startup expenses and capitalization with Financial Plan. Wheew!!
Developing the General Description of my Business- This is awesome.. As a BIG dreamer- this space- causes me to think realistically and really write out what I plan to do. I’m sure that I’ll elaborate on this as I continue this journey.
Everything included in this business plan template jolts me into a “taken by the shoulders and shaking” wake up call type of feeling... It’s not the overwhelming feeling... but the “If you are you ready for what you say you want- Be ready to prepare, work hard, work smart, no complaining, be grateful and Shut Up and Grind” Reality Check.
This is absolutely amazing...( tear) Yes’Sir... Yes’ ma’am...

  3. Day #3... I am up and running....I had an early night last night...But the subconscious dream as a result: Was OFF the CHAIN!!! PHENOMENAL!!! It caused me to evaluate my motives and frankly, I didn’t want to wake up...
Talk about.. Amazing! Have you ever felt like the passion you hold for your dreams... could run over and spill into other things? Wow... it’s an amazing feeling. Also as well... I have some great news...A totally different avenue!!! We'll discuss that as time pro-gresses!!!
I happened to have small talk with a brilliant friend of mine, Jacquette J. in Atlanta about entrepreneurship. She’s a stylist, event planner to Atlanta socialites and up and comers, model, mother and wife; owner of Eqaj-anih. She inspires me in the many hats she wears and I inquired if she’d be a mentor of mine. As she aptly accepted, I begin to think how grateful I am to have her in my circle.
When someone accepts such a duty, I do not take it lightly...I take it as a serious matter that I am involving someone else’s time. It’s not many people in life that you have an instant connect with that forces you to timewarp into the future. Everyone that you meet has a distinct piece to the puzzle of your life, whether they are a reason, a season, or a lifetime statement... it’s a place that you must evaluate.
I recall hearing Tyrese Gibson say a few years ago, that who you choose to have in your immediate circle is a reflection of you. Who do you talk to everyday? What does your conversation reflect? Are you around people that bring you up or drain you?
It’s important for me to be the best that I can be, not only for myself, but for everyone I affect. I can’t afford to have negative influences, to leave me broken. It is a circle of Life. So- I am eternally grateful to God for the people I am meeting.
    -------------
So I delved into the Business Plan Packet template that I have and penciled in some details and attributes.. So far I’ve developed some names for my business and established locations where I would like them to be licensed: TAX ID registered. I’ve even generated portion of the General Company Description... I need to focus on the Mission Statement, Company Goals and Objectives, Business Philosophy, who I will market to, a description of my industry, Strengths and Legal form of ownership... Wow! It’s alot.. And I need YOU!!!!! lol
This is a mass that I can discuss with two people that I admire... that I will be featuring on this journey..You’ll meet them... They’re awesome...(deep breath)...
***UPDATE: I think I am out of Facebook Prison... Solitary Confinement... I WAS a little “clicker happy” and tried to add more people...You know what happened... They put me in time out again...said they were going to extend my “punishment” 3 more hours... Ain’t that somethin’?
Oh well, I’ve come up with a solution... Stay Tuned..okay... it gets better...

  4. Day #4 .. Define: Inspired... Define: Enthralled...Define: Motivated... - One word: Me..
“Life is not measured by the breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away.”

What I am experiencing right now are incorporated over the past few days is a period of Inventory. I feel that where I am is right on target for my purpose. I shared with a dear friend of mine last night, everything I was feeling... I am so “on air” with each element, step, and new idea that’s generating something a little more special each day.
The “airplane” that I am on is having me really think about the future... It’s not a “possible move” but a “When will I move” and relocation to a market that would receive my company, making sure the area is stable to accommodate a family, the economic growth... and the thoughts progress. I am literally High off of this vision and dream.
I am thinking logically that I will need to acquire another job that will focus on my field and also volunteer to become well rounded. I AM SO EXCITED... I don’t just want to talk about the innovations but be about it. I’m prepared to treat THIS HERE like it’s my last chance... I’m prepared to treat THIS HERE like there is no such thing as failure. NO is not an Option. It’s last breath, last tear, last drop of sweat, until the last drop of blood.Bootstraps are pulled up!
Faith is all I have to believe that at the right time, the right moment, the right places, and the right people will continue to contribute to my life story. So today, I am working in my Business plan template, brainstorming and getting into mode. I’ll tap into the Stanford University’s Entrepreneurship Corner Podcasts and get a handle on what I need. ONE DAY AT A TIME!!

  5. Day 5 ......Illuminates with it’s own type of Sparkle and Glam Bam! Still on the Pursuit.. Today is a day of Preparation and involving my environment.
Becoming an entrepreneur as well as being a student, and on aside from that -having a full time job ...AND aside from that... I am focusing on family as well.. I am setting a schedule aside -a time budget to incorporate all these things.. Meaning: Domestic Work. I am not anticipating having a maid for a while... (lol) so, I gotta make it do what it do.
In addition to that today.. Oh- I am off of FACEBOOK Isolation... Whoot! Whoot! Yeah buddy! I can add people again...!
But I started thinking about the value of other networking sites...such as LinkedIn.. Heck they recommend people, Facebook does too, but I’m gonna see if there’s an “adding stipulation.”
As I begin to navigate the site of LinkedIn- I noticed the careers and jobs tabs... Wow.. I think I am going to love it here... There is a query option for Students and Interns... Like how else would you get experience? I’m sooo excited like a pre-kindergarten kid at recess.. totally amped!! Also today I am working on my Business Plan... Penciling things in.. Oh and I might as well write this: I am having a meeting on Wednesday with Deontee Gordon... Spectacular fellow..

My intention and spectrum is vast...I want to reach everyone.. I don’t want this experience to be one sided.. I want to gather as much information from people who is as versatile as I am in every spectrum of being. After all, this journey isn’t just about me... it’s everyone, who my voice reaches and can see my words...
I will also be taking on some videos and classes that will help me get candid responses for becoming a successful business LADY!
I’ve just viewed a very interesting one via Stanford U and listened to John Hawkins speak about his 20 year plan!! I’m excited... never gonna stop being excited... It’s a staple part of life like beans and rice!! Gotta keep going and making the best things happen! ta ta for the moment.. I’ll probably be back for a recap...

  6. Day 7...and my Enthusiasm is at an all time high....

So... I kind of feel like the million- dollar woman... There are so many things that I have at my fingertips that are keeping me busy and I’m learning to balance...I’m loving this feeling. Really.
So here’s what’s on the Plate:

    - Researching Investment Strategies
    - Surrounding myself with Mentors who are Climbing to the top of their game
    - Actively developing skills that will help provide resources that my company will offer
    - Researching the background, basics and extensiveness of the products that I want to include
    - Developing an active networking and social life, evaluating my schedule for events
    - Researching Corporate unions and associations for more alliance and net-worthing strategies.
    - Reading... Reading... Reading... I have four books that I plan to read... that are in my possession. I’m telling you there is no such thing as coincidence:
    - Hill Harper’s The Wealth Cure
    - Kirk Franklin’s The BluePrint
    - Bishop TD Jakes’ Reposition Yourself &
    - Charles Fishman’s The Wal-Mart Effect: How the World's Most Powerful Company Really Works--and How It's Transforming the American Economy

    I am so excited.
I also have a copy of my credit report...YEP... I’m reading that too!...going in on it and evaluate what I can TWEAK!
I’m also going to print out a guide for 501(c) 3 startups and see where to begin...
Mind You...This is not going to happen overnight... and I dare not become overwhelmed... and the reading of these books will be in steps... They are going to take me past the 21 days...
Oh what I am doing... This isn’t a temporary thing. This 21 day journey is a bootcamp for balance, a preview of what to expect...( planning Anniversary Dinner for parents, managing School, Planning Family Reunion, among other things)...and you know what i still don't feel BUSY enough... Crazy... I'm on Amp!
I will not give up! Sure some days, I may not Feeeelllll like it... but this isn’t dependent on my emotions, oh no!
It’s a choice, how bad do you want it? It’s just like working out or a relationship... How bad do you want it. What’s the incentive? (I have a mental Major Payne in my head..’One tubby tubby’)
No such thing as can’t and no such thing as failure... no such thing as deliberating on the past...
Glance at the past, Say thank You- I’m not there anymore...move on to the future and be grateful... while doing what needs to be done right now in the present.
Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. - Phil 4:13 msg
this version below- speaks volumes: My Expectation is off the Chain!!
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. - Phil 4:13

  7. Good morning Beautiful People...Day 9....
Wow...amazing how much revelation can bring... Some days like today ...Its become more evident that I need to be in business for myself.

“Life is a school and you are here to learn... Situations are life lessons from, which make you wise in all efforts and opportunities afforded your way.”

I heard an inspirational “vitamin” that encouraged Entrepreneurs to stay the course and motivated when meeting pressure in business. Your success is not determined by your feelings, but by your diligence.
So today... this resonates as I find myself with the opportunity to juggle school, home life, work and this pursuit. I feel... that sometimes, I may not like all the rules but I must learn from them, so that when my business is initialized, I can put certain things in place.
I’m incorporating today, the first book to read: Hill Harper’s The Wealth Cure.
I’m also researching grant writing courses programs at low or no cost, as well as sponsorship and fundraising opportunities and strategies.
My mind is on FIRE! So many ideas... so many plans... I have it in my mind and I’m on a mission... EXCITED!!!! still....
So on Target Today...Oh before I forget... My meeting with Deontee Gordon was rescheduled for today...I will be working on my business plans, both profit and non profit... and I will begin forming letters for discrepancies in my credit report. I may even include...a link to sample letters in tomorrow’s update...Remind me... So... There you have it... today’s entry isn’t as extensive...
